Fundraising campaign by Brandenburger Liner for Romanian street and sewer children

A few weeks ago, employees at Brandenburger Liner started a fundraising campaign for Romanian street and sewer children. The willingness of the entire Brandenburger Group to support these children, aged from 2 to 18 years, was admirable. Clothes, Lego blocks, toys, school bags and child seats were among the many items donated. These donated items were collected from us in Landau on 22 November 2016 and delivered directly to the “Casa Sami” children’s home run by the S.O.S. foundation.

We would like to thank everyone for their generous donations!

Management at Brandenburger Liner GmbH & Co. KG also made a four-figure cash donation to the S.O.S. Straatkinderen foundation.

The shocking situation was brought to our attention by an article in the bi-Umweltbau magazine by Mr Peter Brink, who runs an engineering firm in the Netherlands. Mr Brink saw the location for himself and spent a week working in the “Casa Sami” children’s home run by the S.O.S. foundation.

The pioneering S.O.S. Straatkinderen foundation was set up by Theo van Hoof from the Netherlands – who already had a multitude of experience through his work as a social care worker for homeless people and drug addicts in the Netherlands – and supports street and sewer children in Romania financially, with donated items and with versatile personal initiative. Many volunteers in Romania care for these children who seek refuge in the sewer system. They are hunted by the police, arrested and released 300 km away in the forest.

There are currently many troubled areas and problems in the world, but these children also deserve a future. For that reason we decided to support the S.O.S. Straatkinderen foundation.
