BB RAIL Verified and safe under load


The trenchless rehabilitation of sewers and culverts in areas affected by rail traffic places particular demands on materials, design and execution. In addition to the usual stresses on underground pipes, particular attention must be paid to the dynamic and recurring traffic loads resulting from rail operations.

With the BB RAIL, Brandenburger Liner has developed a GRP pipe liner specifically for the rehabilitation of gravity sewers and culverts beneath railway lines. The product-specific approval by Deutsche Bahn AG confirms the system’s suitability for this demanding field of application.

The BB RAIL is designed for circular and oval cross-sections in the size range from DN 150 to DN 1000, as well as for installation depths from over 1.10 m up to and including 5.50 m.

Willi Voss, Product Manager for Liners, emphasises: “The BB RAIL was specifically developed to withstand the particular dynamic loads encountered beneath railway tracks. A key technical difference lies in the system’s construction. The BB RAIL does not rely on an integral inner film as part of the liner system. The required technical performance is achieved by the load-bearing GRP composite itself.”

For designers and operators, this provides a clearly defined technical basis for the design and implementation of rehabilitation measures in the railway sector. Reliable product specifications and defined application limits support safe and transparent project planning.

At the same time, the tried-and-tested installation properties of Brandenburger’s GRP liner systems are retained. An elongation of up to 10 %, high mechanical properties and a comparatively low liner weight facilitate practical handling and efficient installation on site.
